WITH PRZEMO ŁUKASIK AT WAWA DESIGN FESTIWAL

On Saturday 6 September we were at Wawa Design Festiwal. This time Creations from Nature — the joint project by Barlinek Institute of Design and the Design Alive magazine — was the topic for that most recognisable of Polish architects, Przemo Łukasik.

Wawa Design Festiwal is yet another design-related event where Barlinek's Creations from Nature were present. Last Saturday, Warsaw's Soho Factory saw the idea behind the contest discussed by one of the jurors: Przemo Łukasik (medusa group).

"I am glad that Polish companies are inviting young Polish designers to jointly develop their products," was how he explained his participation in the project, which involves architects and design lovers rivalling for the best Barlinek board design.

Przemo Łukasik is one of the best known Polish architects, creator of the first loft in Poland — the legendary Bolko Loft in Bytom. At the meeting, which formed part of the Design Alive Talks, he spoke among other things of living in a house considered an architectural icon, of the potential and determination which makes Polish designers stand out against their colleagues from the West, and also the pragmatism and sincerity of Silesian architecture and the rehabilitation of the good old klopsztanga (if interested check out www.klopsztanga.pl).

The talk was hosted by Wojtek Trzcianka, editorial director of the Design Alive magazine, which is the substantive partner of Creations from Nature.

The final of Creations from nature will take place during Łódź Design Festival. An additional attraction of the event will be the artistic spatial installation inspired by the idea and title of the competition, and created by Przemo Łukasik himself.
