CHIPS FLY WHERE BIOD GOES

BIoD recently had the honour of hosting the College of Interior Production and Design from Warsaw. A meeting whose main theme was what matters most to Barlinek — real wood.

The factory in Barlinek opened its double doors wide to show how many elements influence the ultimate shape of its floorboards. The machines, technology, sawmills — the guests at our meeting got the chance to see all that up close. Nothing attracts attention like the work of human hands, though. It was the hand-finished floor department (JMA) which attracted the visitors' greatest interest. We followed this up the next day by giving all the wood aficionados a chance to do some creative work… chisel and saw… and the chips flew nicely.

We invited professionals (Wióry Lecą "Chips Fly") for whom this priceless material holds no secrets, and they passed on their knowledge of carpentry techniques to the designers. Knowledge which they had to put into practice, by crafting creative, one-off items from wood. In the evening we sampled some wines from our own vineyard, conversing by night in forest surroundings.
