BARLINEK AT GDYNIA DESIGN DAYS

Urban installations using the Barlinek board and made by children — this is how Barlinek promoted its Barlinek Institute of Design platform for collaboration with architects and the Creations from Nature project at Gdynia Design Days.

Gdynia Design Days, one of our country's most important gatherings of experts and lovers of design, has come to an end. This could not have taken place without Barlinek which, along with the magazine Design Alive, was promoting its Creations from Nature project. There were original creative workshops prepared for wood fans specially for the occasion.

"Through Creations from Nature we are encouraging the creative use of wood. The project is basically aimed at architects and designers, but at Gdynia Design Days we made an exception and decided to inspire the youngest and stimulate their creativity. So this time we handed the Barlinek board over to children," says Dorota Karbowska-Zawadzka, Marketing Director at Barlinek S.A.

Under the watchful eye of the designers, the youngsters created extraordinary furniture and installations using the Barlinek floorboard. The workshops lasted two days — during the first the young designers created concepts for managing urban space, and the second was about turning their ideas into reality. Rulers, jigsaws and screwdrivers were put to work, and the participants of the workshops were also given kites to inspire the high flyers – not only in the field of design.

Meanwhile their parents could pick the brains of Barlinek's experts and find out more about the nature of wood. All this took place in the extraordinary atmosphere of a summer festival, with a special zone arranged in the city centre for relaxation and encounters with design.
